How do I get an analysis using CODED or UNCODED effects?

Version 4 and higher: There are at least two methods to get coded effects. "Scaled Estimates" can be opted (Effect Screening --> Scaled Estimates). Or, the "Coding" column property can be set for the effects. Column Properties can be defined in the Column Info dialog.

Version 3: Whether the analysis is coded or not depends on whether the design in the data table uses coded or uncoded (actual) factor values. Factor level coding using values -1, 0, and 1 is what JMP does by default. The data table that contains the design matrix has the factors identified as Continuous so that analyses will use the coded values. An analysis using actual (uncoded) factor levels can be obtained by clicking Define Factors and Levels and entering the actual factor levels before creating the design. Subsequent designs will then use these uncoded values. If you create an uncoded design, you can do an analysis using coded or uncoded values. Because the factors are identified as Continuous by default, an analysis will use the uncoded values. To get an analysis of coded values, simply change the factor types to Nominal. JMP will then internally use the nominal coding described in the "Statistical Details" appendix of the JMP Statistics and Graphics Guide when analyzing the data.
